BMW denies plans to set up auto parts manufacturing facility in Punjab
A day earlier, the Punjab government had claimed that BMW had agreed to set up a vehicle parts factory in the state.
The Punjab government said in a release that a decision to this effect was taken during the visit of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the BMW Headquarters in Germany on Tuesday.
Mann is currently on a tour of Germany to attract industrial investment in Punjab.
There has been no response from the state government on BMW’s statement so far.
The BMW Group remains committed to its Indian operations with its manufacturing plant in Chennai, parts warehouse in Pune, training center in Gurugram, Haryana, adjoining Delhi, and a developed dealer network in major metropolitan cities, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, “BMW Group India has no plans to set up additional manufacturing units in Punjab.”
On this, the opposition parties targeted the Chief Minister and sought an explanation in the matter.
