– Since February 16, the BSE Sensex has fallen 1,855.58 points or 3 percent
– Market capitalization of BSE listed companies fell by Rs 8,30,322.61 crore to Rs 2,60,00,662.99 crore.
Friday market
– Sensex closed down 141.87 points at 59,463.93.
– The Sensex fell by 280.46 points to hit a low of 59,325.34 in an intra-day session.
– NSE Nifty closed down 45.45 points at 17,465.80.
– Among the 30 Sensex-building companies, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Marputi, Larsen & Toubro, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra and Bharti Airtel fell sharply.
– Shares of Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, Powergrid, Reliance Industries, NTPC and Ultratech Cement advanced.
– BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell by 0.17 per cent and 0.15 per cent respectively.
– Sectoral indices include Metals (2.39 percent), Commodities (1.17 percent), Autos (0.99 percent), Real Estate (0.70 percent), FMCG (0.40 percent), Power (0.38 percent ) and Consumer Discretionary (0.37 percent) indices declined.
– Sectoral indices like Energy, Healthcare, Consumer Staples, Oil & Gas benefited.
International status
– In Asia, the stock markets of South Korea, China and Hong Kong fell.
– Japan’s stock market rose.
– European stock markets were up in the afternoon session.
– On Thursday, the US stock market rose.
– The price of Brent crude increased by 0.92 percent to 82.97 dollars per barrel in the international oil market.
– Foreign portfolio investors are seen to have sold shares worth Rs 1,417.24 crore.
