Supply chain management is a complex and lengthy process that requires good coordination and management of the transportation of goods and services. This entire process starts from the suppliers to the customers till the delivery of their goods. Although this task is quite challenging, yet India is recognized as a game changer in the supply chain industry. Many types of this industry are seen in our country, due to which factors like large geographical area, large customer base and rapid development of infrastructure are included here. Supply chain managers and employees are successfully completing their challenging tasks while learning precise planning, strong data analysis, new technologies and machine learning skills.

E-commerce marketplaces developed in India Flipkart has created a digital learning academy for youth from rural and urban areas of India to teach and make them experts in supply chain management. This academy named Flipkart SCOA was started in 2021. Its main objective is to eliminate the skill gap and increase employment opportunities. This has proved to be especially helpful for the physically challenged. Today students from Haryana to Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal are associated with this academy. To understand everything in detail about the e-commerce industry, it has four categories of training programs for Delivery Associate (Delivery Hub), Warehouse Workforce, Wholesale Operations and Specially Abled. This entire module is of 54 days.

This exclusive program through SCOA has been designed and developed by the Flipkart team to provide the best training and hands-on experience to the candidates.

“I learned the need and importance of collaboration after completing a 45-day internship at Flipkart through the Supply Chain Operations Academy. Our supply chain operations team works well with other departments such as inbound, outbound, sorting, semi-large, inventory management and customer service to ensure we are meeting our customer’s needs. We also take the help of latest technology to make our supply chain process faster. For example, we use machine learning algorithms to anticipate customer demand and optimize our inventory capacity accordingly. We also use automation to make warehouse operations easy and with little to no margin of error. I also learned during this training that supply chain operations is an ever-evolving field. As the customer’s choice and demand changes, new technology is also required accordingly and to stay in the competition, we have to be always ready to adopt it. This means we must always be thinking about improving our processes and staying ahead of the curve.

As an Associate at Flipkart’s Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA), I worked across multiple departments. First I did primary sorting for a week, then from the second week I got experience of secondary sorting which also included bagging and labeling. In the midst of all this, I saw what kind of problems occur during supply chain operations and how they can be fixed in time. Along with this, I also learned the terminology related to supply chain. I am thankful that I got the opportunity to learn all this in the academy.
