There is a need to strengthen the system to deal with new types of economic crimes: Malhotra
Addressing the conference on ‘Combating the Financing of Terrorism’, Malhotra stressed the need to strengthen international cooperation on economic crimes.
In this session, India’s priorities for the Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) during the chairmanship of G-20 were mentioned. India is going to officially take over the presidency of G-20 from December 1.
“During India’s chairmanship, there will be efforts to promote better international cooperation in information sharing, both formally and informally,” the finance ministry said in a statement. Along with this, there will be an emphasis on making a strong system for receiving the stolen property.
Matters related to international cooperation in the investigation of corruption and economic crimes were discussed during the programme.
Malhotra talked about the synergy between the G-20 Anti-Corruption Working Group and the Financial Task Force. He stressed on strengthening international cooperation in the matter of economic crimes.
