Center spent Rs 10 lakh crore to provide cheap fertilizers to farmers: Modi

Ramagundam (Telangana), Nov 12 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the Center has spent nearly Rs 10 lakh crore during the last eight years so that the country’s farmers are not burdened with high global prices of fertilisers.

Modi, after laying the foundation stone of several projects worth over Rs 9,500 crore at Ramagundam and dedicating them to the nation, said the central government would spend over Rs 2.5 lakh crore this year to provide fertilizers to farmers at affordable rates.

He said that his government has sent an amount of more than two lakh crore rupees to the bank accounts of farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

The Prime Minister said that five major fertilizer plants in the country, which were closed for years, are being restarted to achieve self-sufficiency in the urea sector.

Modi said urea would be made available under a single brand ‘Bharat Urea’ in future, as farmers have faced problems earlier due to the presence of different types of fertilizers.

Quoting experts, Prime Minister Modi said that despite the world going through a critical phase, India is poised to become the third largest economy.

Modi here inaugurated the fertilizer plant of Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL), which has been commissioned at a cost of Rs 6,338 crore. Along with this, he also inaugurated online the 54.1 kilometer railway line from Bhadrachalam Road to Sattupalli, built at a budget cost of Rs 990 crore.

In this program, the Prime Minister said that according to experts, the development that the country has seen after the year 1990, that is, in the last three decades, will happen in a few years due to the changes during the last eight years.

He said, “For the last two-three years, the world is fighting the corona pandemic. On the other hand, there are conflicts, military operations are taking place and it is affecting the country and the world as well.”

Modi said, “Even in these difficult circumstances, one more thing is being heard all over the world. Experts from all over the world say that India will soon become the third largest economy in the world and is moving very fast in that direction. Used to be.”

He said that governance, thought process and approach have also changed in the last eight years. Modi said that whether it is infrastructure, government processes or ease of doing business… all these changes are driving India’s ‘aspirational society’.
