New Delhi, Nov 17 (PTI) The Center and the Delhi government may meet by December 12 to consider sharing half of the amount due by DMRC to Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd (DAMEPL) as part of an arbitration award. .

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) gave this information to the Delhi High Court on Friday.

Justice Kameswara Rao was told by Attorney General R Venkataramani that governments need some more time due to elections in Delhi and a cabinet meeting will also have to be called in this regard.

“So I think they will hold the next round of meeting by December 12 and some understanding will be reached so that both the sides can contribute 50-50 per cent,” he said.

Venkataramani requested the court to hear the matter on December 12.

Earlier, the DMRC had told the court that the Delhi government has also sought complete information from the corporation in this regard so that it, being a shareholder, can consider its request to bear the remaining 50 per cent burden.

DAMEPL says that DMRC has paid it only Rs 166.44 crore as on March 14 and has sought a direction to pay Rs 4,427.41 crore by attaching DMRC’s bank accounts and fixed deposits in its petition.

During the hearing, DAMEPL’s counsel Jaideep Gupta said that the situation has turned worse and the Attorney General has so far done nothing except seeking time.

After this, the court asked the law officer how much time would it take to resolve the matter. On this, the Attorney General said that DMRC is not able to give such amount from its own and if it does so, its services will be stopped.

The court granted more time to DMRC for a solution and listed the matter for further hearing on December 12.
