Foreign investors invested Rs 47,148 crore in the Indian stock market in June
VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services, said that FPIs may be a bit cautious going forward as valuations in the country are a bit high from a short-term perspective. According to the data, FPIs invested a net Rs 47,148 crore in Indian stocks in June.
Depository data showed FPI investments in equities stood at Rs 43,838 crore in May, Rs 11,631 crore in April and Rs 7,936 crore in March. Earlier, FPIs had pulled out a net Rs 34,000 crore from equities in January and February.
FPIs have consistently invested in stocks related to financial, automobile, capital goods and construction. FPI has also invested 9200 crores in the debt market in June. So far in 2023, FPIs have invested Rs 76,406 crore.
Prior to this, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) had invested Rs 43,838 crore in the Indian stock markets in May. This was a nine-month high. Domestic Product (GDP) figures along with other indicators are pointing to the fact that the Indian economy is getting stronger.
