Hinduja Group’s headquarters remained in Iran for 60 years and then it shifted to London.
The Hinduja Group was founded in 1914 by Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, a young entrepreneur from Shikarpur town in Sindh. In 1919 the company opened its office in Iran. After this, Iran remained the headquarters of this company for the next 60 years. But in 1979, the Shah of Iran fell due to the Islamic Revolution. In the midst of this turmoil, the Hinduja Group decided to move its headquarters out of Iran. The next destination of the group was London, the capital of Britain. The group started with merchant banking and trade. Today its business is spread across many sectors including Auto, IT, Media & Entertainment, Oil & Specialty Chemicals, Banking & Finance, Power Generation, Real Estate, Healthcare.

The company has around 10 production units across the world. This company launched India’s first CNG bus in 1997. In 1994, Hinduja Group entered the banking sector of India. In the year 2000, Hinduja Group established Hinduja Global Solutions. This is the BPO company of the group. Hinduja Group also bought the well-known brand Gulf and later renamed it Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd.

Srichand Hinduja, known as SP among friends, joined the family business in 1952. Each brother has a different responsibility for the business. Srichand Hinduja is the chairman and Gopichand Hinduja is the co-chairman of the entire group. Prakash is the chairman of the Hinduja Group in Europe, while Ashok is the chairman of the Hinduja Group in India. Srichand and Gopichand live in London. Prakash lives in Monaco while Ashok lives in India.
on the verge of splitting
The root of the tussle between the Hinduja family is an agreement signed on July 2, 2014. It was signed by all the four brothers. It said that everything in the family belongs to each person and nothing belongs to no one. But the family of Srichand Hinduja challenged its validity in the court. Recently, a London court was told that the family has agreed to set aside the agreement. Along with this, the rumor of partition of the family has also intensified.
