Kat criticizes IIFT for e-commerce report

New Delhi, Nov 16 (PTI) Traders’ body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has strongly criticized the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) over its assessment of the MSME sector in a research report funded by Flipkart.

IIFT is an autonomous body under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The research report titled ‘E-commerce Major, SSI Retailers and Indian Economy’ states that the e-commerce sector cannot be blamed for the slow growth of the Indian retail MSME sector, as suggested by the country’s traders’ associations. It has been told.

CAT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said, “It is strange that an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce is taking money from a company that has been accused of misconduct by various government institutions.”

“Obviously, the body will advocate for the company that funded the research and the report,” he said.

“It seems that the report is nothing but a well planned document to give clean chit to Flipkart as the report is funded by Flipkart,” he said.
