Mobile industry agrees to introduce common charging port in a phased manner: Government
Giving this information on Wednesday, the Consumer Affairs Ministry said that a sub-group will be constituted to examine the feasibility of common charging port for wearable devices like watches.
The decision was taken during discussions at the meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group here under the chairmanship of Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh.
The meeting was attended by representatives of MAIT, FICCI, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), IIT-Kanpur, IIT (BHU) Varanasi and other educational institutions, environment ministry and central government ministries.
The official statement issued in this regard said, “The stakeholders agreed that a common charging port can be rolled out in a phased manner so that it can be implemented by the industry and adopted by the consumers.”
