Prasoon Joshi-led company gets Air India branding job

New Delhi: Tata Group is leaving no stone unturned to bring Air India back its glory. Once upon a time, this company ruled the Indian sky on the basis of strong advertising and branding. The long moustached Maharaja of Air India is still alive in the minds of the people. In the era of JRD Tata, Bobby Kuka made the Maharaja shine. Kuka was associated with Air India for nearly 35 years. He was the commercial director of the company and it was he who branded Air India as Maharaja. Air India is back in the Tata group after nearly seven decades and this time its branding work has been given to McCann Worldgroup India, a company led by Prasoon Joshi. Tata Group has started a multi-billion dollar project to bring back Air India to its former glory.

McCann said in a statement that he had got the job of advertising and marketing Air India. McCann Worldgroup is a global marketing services company. Air India Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer Nipun Agarwal said that we are making Air India a global airline that is Indian at heart. It is a brand that is close to the heart of travelers across the globe and the new Air India will be in line with the aspirations of the Global Indian. We look forward to partnering with McCann Worldgroup to see Air India emerge as one of the most loved and trusted brands in India and the world. Prasoon Joshi is the CEO and CCO of McCann Worldwide India and the chairman of Asia-Pacific.

He said that he would personally look into the project. We are working on its new look. Asked if Maharaja will be used as before, Joshi said it is still in the planning stage. All I can say now is that there are exciting times ahead for Air India and its guests.
