Russia-India trade experienced unprecedented growth in the first half of 2022: Russian Ambassador


Moscow/New Delhi, Sep 14 (PTI) Trade between Russia and India witnessed an “unprecedented growth” in the first half of 2022, reaching $11 billion. Russia’s top diplomat in India said this on Wednesday.

He said that the mutual trade between the two countries can increase to the level of 30 billion dollars by 2025.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov made the remarks ahead of a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Uzbekistan this week.

The issue of strategic stability is expected to be discussed between the two leaders during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

“We can say that our trade and economic cooperation is changing,” Alipov told Tas news agency. We saw phenomenal growth in business in the first half of 2022. It stood at over $11 billion as of July. In the year 2021, this figure had reached $ 13.6 billion. On this basis, we can expect mutual trade to reach $ 30 billion by 2025.
