Tomar should encourage the use of technology in farming for higher yield benefits


Chandigarh, Nov 17 (PTI) Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday asked farmers to promote the use of technology in farming to ensure higher yields and better returns.

Praising Haryana, Tomar said that the state is a leader in crop production and horticulture. He was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of Integrated Pack House at Aterna village in Sonipat. During this, Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Jayprakash Dalal was also present. On Thursday, 30 such pack houses were inaugurated across the state.

Tomar said that the Haryana government has planned to build 500 pack houses in the state, after which there will be a revolution in the horticulture sector.

He said that the Central Government has so far deposited Rs 2.17 lakh crore in the accounts of farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi.
