Twitter Blue service disrupted after a spate of fake accounts

San Francisco, Nov 12 (AP) Social media platform Twitter’s relaunched premium service “Twitter Blue” was hit hard on Friday amid a wave of fake accounts on the platform. However, these fake accounts were approved by Twitter itself.

Twitter is offering anyone willing to pay $8 per month the service of marking Twitter Blue after ‘verification’.

The social media company earlier used to award ‘Blue Badge’ only to government bodies, celebrities and journalists verified by the platform. It was started to prevent fake or bogus accounts on the platform.

However, after Elon Musk took charge of Twitter, now any user can get the Blue Badge and for this he will have to pay eight dollars per month.
