Mumbai – Major Indian indices remained flat for the fourth consecutive day. Capital markets started the weekend on a somewhat disappointing note. This showed some disincentive to buy shares from investors in all sectors. The advance-decline ratio was mixed. In the Mumbai Stock Exchange, 1,505 shares rose compared to the previous close while 1,444 shares fell.

Broader indices followed the markets and remained flat. At 10:06 am, the BSE Smallcap index was trading at 28,862, down 0.06%. While the BSE Midcap index was down 0.33% at 25,161. TCPL Packaging Ltd and Bank of Maharashtra were the leading stocks in BSE Smallcap. On the other hand, Future Lifestyle Fashions Limited and Tanfac Industries Limited were the biggest losers.

At 10:06 am, the Sensex was trading at 61,601 with a loss of 0.24%. While the Nifty50 index was trading at 18,229, down 0.28%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd and Asian Paints Ltd were the top gainers in the Nifty. While Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and Britannia Industries Limited were the biggest losers. In the sectoral indices, BSE Vahan was the biggest loser with a fall of 1 percent.

Inflows of foreign investors into the Indian capital market increased by 8% to $566 billion. Oil prices cooled on Thursday as rising Covid cases appeared to affect demand for goods and services in China.
