The BSE Sensex rose 0.46% to 57,879 at 10:25 am on Wednesday. The Nifty50 index rose 0.52% to 17,040. Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv were the top gainers in the Sensex. Reliance Industries, Tata Steel and Asian Paints fell.

2,093 shares advanced and 1,000 shares declined in the Mumbai Stock Exchange. Advance-decline ratio remained in favor of advance. Broader indices outperformed major indices. Shares of Sincom Formulations were the top gainers in the BSE Smallcap with gains of over 15%. Their transaction numbers also increased significantly. Shares of HCL Infosystems Limited and Phase Three Limited were also heavily bought.
