Mumbai – US Wall Street indices experienced significant gains in the last session of last week. Each index rose by 1 to 2%. Most Asian indices followed Wall Street’s lead and started the new week’s session on a positive note. In response to the optimistic global cues, major Indian indices also rose sharply in the morning session on Monday.

The BSE energy and BSE consumer goods indices rose more than 2%. Growth in JSW Energy Ltd as well as shares of Adani Group also played a significant role in the rally. Information technology and telecom stocks were also bullish.

BSE Sensex rose 1.10% to 60,467 at 11 am on Monday. The Nifty50 index rose 1.11% to 17,787. Bajaj Finserv, Infosys and Power Grid Corporation of India were the top gainers in the Sensex.

2,345 shares rose and 930 shares fell in the Mumbai Stock Exchange. Advance-decline ratio remained in favor of advance. Shares of Asian Energy Services Limited became the leading stock in BSE Smallcap. It closed in the circuit above 20%. The major small-cap index rose as a result. Shares of Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers and 5paisa Capital Ltd were also heavily bought.
