New Delhi : Wall Street indices showed a mixed trend overnight. While most of the Asian markets continued to gain today. Indian major indices struggled at the start of the session but gained ground later on strong gains in metal and IT stocks. BSE Metals was the best performing sector, rising over 1%. While BSE Realty and BSE Utilities saw the biggest decline. The advance-decline ratio remained strongly in favor of advances, with 1,918 scrips advancing and 1,271 scrips declining on the BSE.

In early trade on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex rose 0.43% to 60,917 at 10:50 am. The Nifty-50 index climbed 0.36% to reach the level of 18,119. Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Wipro were the top gainers on the Sensex. While the shares of Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and State Bank of India declined.

Broader indices underperformed the core indices. Shares of top BSE Smallcap gainer JTL Industries Ltd. soared over 12%. It was trading at a new 52-week high. There was heavy buying in shares of Agro Tech Foods Limited and Usha Martin Limited. Today these penny stocks have hit upper circuit. These can be kept an eye on.
