Share Market Today: Selling force in stock market today, sensex falls while IT stocks in focus – share market opening today on 13th jan as sensex nifty fall at opening session


Mumbai: The Indian stock market has been under pressure for the fourth straight trading session this week. Both the Sensex and Nifty indices fell in today’s trade. Sensex is down more than 150 points. Nifty is close to 17800.

Talking about global cues, Asian markets are seen buying today. On Thursday, the American market also closed with growth. Sensex is currently trading at 59,790.94 with a loss of 167 points. Nifty has fallen by 41 points to 17,817.10.

Today’s Top Gainers and Losers

In today’s session, selling is seen in most of the major sectors. Buying is seen in metal shares. On Nifty, Metal and PSU Bank indices are in green symbol. Realty is looking flat. Other indices including Bank, Financial, Auto, Pharma are in red.

There is a sell-off in heavyweight stocks. 20 stocks in Sensex 30 are looking weak. Today’s top gainers include TATA STEEL, INDUS INDBK, NTPC, MARUTI, BAJAJFINSV, Infosys, WIPRO, SBI. Top losers include HCL TECH, RIL, AXISBANK, HDFC, HDFC BANK, LT, M&M, ITC, Airtel, HUL.

Pressure on the IT sector

Despite good quarterly results from IT companies, their shares came under pressure today with the IT sector being the worst hit. On the other hand, the metal sector is strong and its companies are being bought today. Nifty Midcap is down 0.12 percent today while Smallcap is showing gains of 0.13 percent.
