Stock Market Opening Today: Poor start for stock market; Sensex-Nifty falls as market opens


Mumbai: The Indian stock market witnessed a fall in the trading session on Wednesday. The market started today in the red, buoyed by pre-opening signals. In the US market on Tuesday, the Nasdaq closed lower, while Asian markets saw mixed business in this morning’s session. Today the Hang Seng is trading bearish and the Taiwan market is showing bearishness.

Beginning of stock market
This morning’s trading session has started with a bearish trend. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex opened down 115.91 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 60,811.52. While the 50-share index of the national stock market, the Nifty, opened the trade at 18,084.75, a loss of 47.55 points or 0.26 per cent.

Which stocks are bullish?
Taking a look at the Sensex stocks, Powergrid, NTPC, Titan, Asian Paints, HDFC, M&M, IndusInd Bank, L&T, Sun Pharma, Maruti and Bajaj Finance are trading bullish today. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 26 advanced while only 4 fell. Shares in banking, IT, metal and cement sectors registered gains in today’s trade. But market experts say that buying has returned from lower levels due to a big fall in the market.

ONGC, TCS, Infosys, BPCL and Bajaj Finserv are trading 0.90-0.75 per cent lower.

Integrated business in foreign markets
Talking about the foreign market, the market in the US seemed to be doing mixed business. The Down Jones Industrial Average added 37.63 points, or 0.11 percent, to 33,241.56, the S. River P 500 fell 15.57 points, or 0.40 percent, to 3,829.25 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 144.613 percent to 33 , closed at 241.34. On the other hand, Asian markets also fell in early trade on Wednesday. South Korea’s Kospi index fell more than 2 percent, while Japan’s Nikkei fell nearly 1 percent.

Status of Tuesday
Domestic stock markets closed higher for the second consecutive day on strong trends in global markets. The Sensex gained 361.01 points, or 0.60 percent, to close at 60,927.43 in late trade. At the same time, the national stock market index Nifty also rose by 117.70 points or 0.65 percent to close at 18,132.30 points.
