1,915 shares advanced and 1,399 shares declined in the Mumbai Stock Exchange. Advance-decline ratio remained in favor of advance. Broader indices have outperformed major indices. Shares of Patel Engineering Ltd rose more than 12%, leading the BSE Smallcap index. Shares of Vinyl Chemicals (India) Ltd and Rushil Decor Ltd also witnessed heavy buying by investors.

The BSE Sensex was down 0.07% at 11:50 am on Wednesday. It reached 59,686. The Nifty50 index was up 0.05% at 17,651. Tata Steel, HDFC and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top gainers in the Sensex. While HCL Technologies, Infosys and IndusInd Bank fell. Shares of Infosys extended their losses and fell more than 12% in the last five trading sessions.
