New Delhi: Local stock markets also climbed on Tuesday amid buying by foreign investors and a firm trend in global markets. During this period, the 30-share Sensex of BSE reached its all-time high with a gain of 248 points. The Sensex closed at 61,872.99 points, up 248.84 points, or 0.40 per cent, in volatile trading. With this, the Sensex had crossed its previous record level of 61,795.04 points on 11 November. The Sensex had climbed up to 61,955.96 points during trading. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed at 18,403.40 points with a gain of 74.25 points, or 0.41 per cent. Power Grid, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, UltraTech Cement, State Bank of India, Dr Reddy’s and Asian Paints were the major gainers in the Sensex stocks.
