The BSE Sensex rose 0.11% to 60,221 at 11 am on Wednesday. The Nifty50 index rose 0.18% to 17,754. Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top performers in the Sensex. While Bharti Airtel, NTPC Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India were down.

Broad indices outperformed major indices by a wide margin. Shares of Shree Rayalasema High-Strength Hypo Co. were among the top performers in the BSE Smallcap group with a significant increase in share count of over 14%. Shares of Elicon Castalloy and Vinyl Chemicals were also heavily bought by investors.
