Mumbai –Most Asian markets were lower on Friday as the US Wall Street index fell on Thursday. There was significant profit recovery in the IT and telecom sectors. As a result, major Indian indices started the weekend session on higher footing in the face of global slowdown. After this, however, the indices abandoned their earlier profit-taking strategy as they recorded steady trade. The BSE Sensex was down 0.06% at 10:05 am on Friday. It was up to 59,597. The Nifty50 index fell 0.08% to 17,608. In the Sensex, HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Wipro Limited were the top gainers. While Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra and Tata Motors were down.

BSE Realty and BSE Metals, which have gained significantly recently, were the top losers. These sectoral indices fell more than 1%. 1,315 shares advanced and 1,558 shares declined in the Mumbai Stock Exchange. The advance-decline ratio remained on the decline side.

The broad indices underperformed the core indices by a significant margin. Shares of Optimus Infracom were the top gainers in BSE Smallcap. Their value rose more than 13% after recovering from the previous 52-week low. Shares of Oricon Enterprises Limited and Nazara Technologies Limited were also heavily bought.

The capital market had its weekend trading on Friday. However, the major indices registered a nominal fall since morning. Even some penny stocks traded in the upper circuit. Their list is as follows. Investors should keep an eye on such stocks for the coming sessions –
